Abstract

Climate change and the requirement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions are becoming a growing concern and challenge for mankind. Renewable energy sources emerge as a promising solution that can address this concern. However, in formulating development policies, planning, and practical implementation of renewable energy projects, there have been many objections and barriers from the public due to concerns about the negative effects of developing these forms of energy. This makes it challenging to achieve the development plans and goals of national commitments to combat climate change. The study of social acceptance of renewable energy technologies has become an area of research with many publications. This article provides an overview of the research field on the social acceptance of renewable energy in general and wind power in particular, including integrating the research situation in Vietnam.
