Abstract

The dynamical problem of a brake-like mechanical system composed of an elastic cylindrical tube in frictional contact with a rigid and rotating cylinder is considered in view of the interpretation of the phenomenon of brake squeals. The case of stick-slip-separation waves is considered here by a semi-analytical analysis of the reduced equations and by f.e.m. numerical simulations in order to complete our discussions given in [MOI 03] on stick-slip waves.
