Abstract

Today companies promote energy management as a key com-
ponent for reducing operating costs and improving profits. The As-
sociation of Energy Engineers (AEE) is proud of the companies that
have demonstrated their support of the energy management industry
by becoming corporate members. In 2005, Johnson & Johnson, Pacific
Controls System, Rooms to Go, the Tennessee Valley Authority, and WFI
Global became life corporate members.
Life and corporate members encourage their employees to partici-
pate in continuing education and certification programs offered through
AEE. For example, Johnson Controls encourages its employees to par-
ticipate in the Certified Energy Manager’s Program (CEM). Johnson
Controls boasts a roster of 164 CEMs. Another example is American
Electric Power (AEP), which now has 76 CEMs. Corporate members
such as Florida Power and Light have used AEE training programs at
its facilities. This training improves the energy management skills of
employees and increases energy awareness throughout the company.
Siemens Building Technologies, an AEE corporate member, donat-
ed $10,000 to the foundation of AEE to help students further their edu-
cation in energy management. The accomplishments of AEE corporate
members have been truly outstanding. In 1978, 3M Energy Management
was the fi rst corporate member to join AEE. With a three-decade long
track record for reducing energy costs at their facilities, 3M has one of
the best energy awareness programs nationwide.
The benefi ts of corporate membership are many. The company is
listed as a corporate member in publications and on the AEE website.
Included in their annual dues are three delegates. These delegates may
be changed by the company, and each delegate receives the two AEE
journals, Energy Engineering and Strategic Planning for Energy and the
Environment. Additional delegates may be added at a reduced fee. Any
employee of the company receives the member discount when partici-
pating in continuing education programs or purchasing publications.
