Abstract

In this letter, a square monopole antenna has been designed for ultrawideband (UWB) applications having variable notch frequency characteristic. The proposed antenna consists of the small square radiating patch with two rectangular slots, which provides a wide usable fractional bandwidth from 3.1 to 14.4 GHz. The proposed antenna is simple and has a very small size of 10×15 mm2. The bandwidth of the proposed antenna is wider than that of the antenna that has already been introduced in references. Experimental results show that the proposed antenna could be a good candidate for ultrawideband (UWB) applications.
