Abstract

In order to avoid using three-dimensional elements (hexaedric and prismatic) of higher order for the study of plate bending, a new hexaedric simple element with eight nodes, three degrees of freedom per node (U, V and W) based on the strain model, has been developed. This element is numerically more efficient than the displacement model. Its precision is assessed through a series of test-cases relative to thin and thick plate problems.
