Aims and Scope

Journal of ICT Standardization (JICTS) provides a platform for research and analysis across the full lifecycle of standards, from emerging and exploratory frameworks to mature, widely adopted protocols. The journal welcomes interdisciplinary contributions that engage with the theory, development, implementation, and socio-technical impact of ICT standards across a wide range of domains. Reflecting current global trends, JICTS places special emphasis on cross-sector convergence, showcasing how ICT standards increasingly intersect with domains such as healthcare, energy, manufacturing, finance, transportation, and smart infrastructure.

Areas of focus include (but are not limited to):

  • Emerging and developing standards across ICT and adjacent fields (e.g., AI, IoT, 5G/6G, cybersecurity, edge computing, quantum networks)
  • Pre-standardization research and technical frameworks for nascent technologies
  • Analyses of formal standards (national, regional, and international) and specifications
  • De facto and industry-driven standards in practice
  • Maintenance, revision, and interoperability of legacy standards
  • Standardization processes, methodologies, and governance models
  • Interactions between standards and policy, regulation, ethics, intellectual property, and market dynamics
  • Work of standards development organizations (SDOs), consortia, and open-source communities
  • Educational and tutorial articles that clarify complex standards or standardization processes

The journal aims to bridge the gap between academic research, industry practice, and standards development organizations by publishing rigorous, timely, and forward-looking contributions that support the global ICT standardization environment. Contributions may address emerging or pre-standardization efforts, established protocols, and the revision or harmonization of legacy standards.
