Abstract

One main current demand for mobile machinery development is the improvement of operator comfort and productivity in order to be competitive on the global market in the future. Actual trends towards cost effective actuator systems in offroad vehicles and thereby the use of electrohydraulic actuators reflects also the task of active oscillation damping of the machine structure. In the past several concepts, which differ in hydraulic system, control and sensor strategy, have been developed. However, the practical use is still minor as in most cases passive oscillation systems, which base upon high pressure hydro-pneumatic accumulators, are widely used although the component costs and frequent check intervals are problematic for this technology. This paper presents an overview of research work done in the area of active oscillation damping technologies for offroad vehicles.

Author Biographies

Robert Rahmfeld, Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg, Aircraft Systems Engineering, Nesspriel 5, 21129 Hamburg, Germany

Robert Rahmfeld was born on 18th of January 1972 in Gleiwitz (Poland). He started the study of Mechanical Engineering at the Gerhard-Mercator University of Duisburg in 1992. In 1996 he received the Master of Engineering and continued his scientific career as scientific employee in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Measurement and Control at Gerhard-Mercator University of Duisburg. In 2002 he finished his doctoral thesis “Development and Control of Energy Saving Hydraulic Drives for Mobile Systems” at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg, Institute for Aircraft Systems Engineering. Actually, he is the senior engineer of the fluid power group at the Institute for Aircraft Systems Engineering.

Monika Ivantysynova Born on December 11th 1955 in Polenz (Germany). She received her MSc. Degree in Mechanical Engineering and her PhD Degree in 1983 in Hydraulics from the Slovak Technical University of Bratislava, Czechoslovakia. After that, during seven years of work in fluid power industry she collected a lot of experience in hydraulic systems and component design, modelling and system simulation, especially in the development of hydraulic pumps and motors. In 1991 she returned to university, where she was involved in research projects into the fundamentals of hydraulic actuation systems and control for aircraft applications at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg. In April 1996 she received a Professorship in fluid power & control at the University of Duisburg, where she was active until March 1999. Since April 1999 Professor Ivantysynova continues her research and teaching activities at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg in the Institute for Aircraft Systems Engineering. Prof. Ivantysynova’s teaching and research centres around the optimisation of hydraulic component design, advanced system solutions, motion control with electro-hydraulic actuation and the development of design algorithms. Besides the book “Hydrostatic Pumps and Motors” published in German and English, she has published approximately 70 papers in technical journals and at international conferences.
